Honorary Membership in American Academy of Craniofacial Pain

L to R: Dr. Richard Klein, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo D-CA, Marty Russo, Dr. Terry Bennett, Dr. Elliott Alpher

Former Congressman Marty Russo is made an honorary Member of Distinction by the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.

It was truly a memorable occasion to be given this award from the leadership at AACP.  Check out this article in The Georgetown Dish:  AACP Inducts Marty Russo.

“Former congressman Marty Russo was made a distinguished, honorary member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) at Congressional Country Club on Saturday, October 12 in the presence of friends and other congressmen.”

In August of this year, I accompanied the doctors in their educational presentation to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration as they consider regulatory action.  See story at the Georgetown Dish:  Dr. Alpher’s Breakthrough for Sleep Apnea.

“The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) led by Dr. Elliot Alpher, a director and diplomate, assembled these groups to discuss the viability of a simpler, high-tech alternative of compliance chips in oral appliances and home sleep tests.  AACP presented an up-to-date scenario of oral appliances as a viable alternative to the CPAP and reintroduced the concept of home testing.”

I look forward to a long and meaningful relationship with this prestigious academy which is doing important work to help those who suffer from sleep apnea.  It is a good feeling to be able to give the academy strategic counsel about how to be heard in the regulatory process.  The outcome is that people will have more options for treatment of this condition.

Help For Sleep Apnea

L to R: Bill Carney, Marty Russo, Dr. Elliott Alpher

Sleep Apnea is a serious health condition that requires treatment by experts in the sleep field.

Recently, I have become acquainted with some very dedicated and knowledgeable leaders in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP).

In particular, Dr. Elliott J. Alpher, DDS of The Alpher Center has been a guiding force in Washington DC for helping people who suffer from jaw pain and sleep apnea.

Members of the AACP treat patients who suffer various health problems and pain associated with disorders of the jaw joint– often referred to as TMD (temporomandibular disorder).
A good summary of how these advanced dental health experts can help patients in pain is found at the Headaches and Dental Health section of their website.

It was an honor the other day to receive a letter of thanks from the AACP. They have been able to share critical information with the government on the latest scientific information about how oral airway appliances can be used to treat sleep apnea.

This cutting edge technology delivers excellent therapy to sleep apnea patients at a fraction of the cost of other more cumbersome methods. It has huge implications for people who work in fields where the dangers of having a sleep apnea episode must be avoided.
